Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that they have sought a security consultant from the government for their upcoming tour of Pakistan. The Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to visit Pakistan on August 17 to play a two-match Test series in Rawalpindi (August 21-25) and Karachi (August 30-September 3), as part of the ICC Test Championship.
Travelling to Pakistan is often considered risky for international teams due to the country's political situation. BCB cricket operations chairman, Jalal Yunus, stated that the tour was confirmed after Pakistan assured state-level security. He highlighted that Bangladesh had previously received similar security assurances during the Asia Cup in Pakistan and observed that other international teams have recently visited Pakistan with satisfactory security arrangements.
Yunus emphasised that while security concerns are significant, the BCB decided to proceed with the tour after receiving thorough assurances from Pakistani authorities. The BCB has also requested a security consultant from the government to maintain constant communication regarding security matters during the tour.
He also mentioned that no players have expressed objections to the tour. Before the Test series, the Bangladesh A team will play two four-day matches and three 50-over games in Islamabad, with players like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque included to prepare for the Test series, as there are no practice games scheduled upon their arrival in Pakistan on August 17.
