Bangladesh's bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan, defended a modest total of 129 to secure a 27-run victory over the West Indies in the second T20I, sealing the series 2-0 at the Arnos Vale Ground, St Vincent. It marked Bangladesh’s lowest-defended total batting first against the West Indies.
Shamim Hossain played a crucial role in boosting Bangladesh’s score with an unbeaten 35 off 17 balls, while Mehidy Hasan contributed 26. The pitch, which favoured bowlers, became the stage for a collective effort as Bangladesh's quicks and spinners dominated.
Taskin set the tone by dismissing Brandon King and Andre Fletcher in the third over, leaving the hosts struggling at 8 for 2. Mahedi then struck twice, including removing Nicholas Pooran, as the West Indies slipped further to 28 for 3.
Rovman Powell, a potential threat after his performance in the first match, was caught brilliantly by Mehidy at point. Tanzim Hasan chipped in by dismissing Romario Shepherd as the West Indies collapsed to 42 for 6.
Roston Chase and Akeal Hosein attempted a late recovery, with Chase hitting two sixes and Hosein adding another. However, Rishad Hossain dismissed Chase and Gudakesh Motie in quick succession to extinguish any hope. Taskin finished the job by removing Hosein as Bangladesh celebrated a convincing series win.
The only setback for Bangladesh was Soumya Sarkar's finger injury, but the team’s dominant bowling display ensured a memorable victory.
