The Austrian Cricket Association (ACA) has issued an "unreserved apology" to the Israel Cricket Association (ICA) and the Israeli cricket team for any "hurt or offence" caused during their Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier A match on June 10.
While details of the incident remain undisclosed, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the ACA responded promptly by addressing the matter with the involved player and imposing disciplinary sanctions in line with their protocols.
The ICC facilitated a confidential conciliation process under its Anti-Discrimination Code to resolve the issue. This process, led by independent anti-discrimination expert Paul Mortimer, aimed to achieve a mutual resolution between the ACA and ICA.
The match, held in Spinaceto, Rome, was part of the European Qualifier for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Austria secured a seven-wicket victory over Israel, with Aqib Iqbal contributing an unbeaten 52 off 35 balls.
