Derek Perera founded the Ontario Cricket Academy in 2003. In 2004, the Ontario Cricket school (OCA) achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the pioneer cricket school in North America to construct an indoor facility. This groundbreaking initiative allowed players to receive year-round training, setting a new standard in the region. An outstanding feature of the school is its ability to nurture athletes through top-notch coaching and comprehensive programs. The academy has been thriving and excelling since its inception, achieving division championships from the Under 13 level to the Senior level on multiple occasions. The primary aim of the OCA is to provide unparalleled opportunities for instruction and competition.
Consequently, the academy has attracted numerous esteemed coaches from around the globe who have taken part in coaching camps over the years. Several highly acclaimed coaches from around the world have conducted exclusive cricket camps for the OCA. A few of these teachers include Ian Frazier, who has connections with the Chappellway, Greg Chappell's aide; Robin Singh, the fielding mentor for India; Ashok Malhotra, a former player for the Indian national team; and Ian Pont.
The Online Teaching Association (OCA) has organized three global excursions for teams of young individuals, along with instructing and nurturing athletes in the community. After witnessing the U-17 squad's remarkable performance in Trinidad and Tobago in 2009 and 2010, Kumar Rampat, a highly respected coach from Trinidad, hailed them as the most exceptionally trained youth team to emerge from North America. In 2009 and 2010, the team had the opportunity to explore Trinidad and Tobago.

Cricket in Ontario Makes History
A rare opportunity presented itself to the OCA when they were granted the privilege to compete against the Trinidad and Tobago National U-16 squad in 2010. This chance arose due to the OCA's remarkable achievement during its inaugural journey in 2009. In March 2011, the OCA achieved an impressive feat by becoming the inaugural club or academy from North America to embark on a trip to Sri Lanka, etching its name in the annals of history. The visit garnered significant interest from the local journalism community, mainly due to the noteworthy presence of Sri Lanka Cricket embracing the OCA. Once more, the OCA was granted the opportunity to compete against national representative teams. These games took place in cricket stadiums on the international stage, typically reserved exclusively for national squads.
A formal acknowledgment of the "club" category was established in 2010 in response to the substantial increase in membership that has taken place over the years. The Ontario Cricket Academy and Club participates in the Toronto and District league, fielding four senior teams that span from the Premier to the Third Division. In addition, the club boasts a remarkable variety of minor teams, spanning from the U-13 to the U-19 league.
Many players from OCA&C have gone on to proudly represent Canada in various international cricket tournaments, showcasing their skills and talent across different age categories. This result is a direct consequence of the tireless endeavours that have been undertaken to provide opportunities for participation and mentorship at the utmost echelon. Furthermore, a select group of athletes from the OCA&C have been given the chance to enhance their skills and take part autonomously in overseas nations. With an unwavering commitment and relentless determination, the coaches, players, members, and fans of OCA&C are poised to achieve even more incredible feats in the times to come.
